From a prayer meeting to a church family.
CACW began with a small group seeking God together. Since 1988, He has shaped us into a church community rooted in worship, Scripture, prayer, and mission.
Small beginnings. Steady grace.
In early 1988, Rev. Philip Teng and Rev. Paul Theophilus, then serving at Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, sensed the need for a Chinese church in Westchester County. With the encouragement of Ridgeway Alliance Church, a small group began gathering for Bible study and prayer.
On May 1, 1988, Chinese Alliance Church of Westchester held its first Sunday worship service with 37 people in attendance. From that first gathering, God steadily grew the church through faithful servants, prayer, and a shared desire to make Christ known.
Four markers from CACW’s early years.
These numbers highlight how CACW began: when the first gatherings started, how many came to the first worship service, how the church was formally organized, and how God grew the ministry in those first years.

Continuing the mission
CACW continues to gather across generations and languages to worship Jesus, care for one another, and share the gospel with our neighbors and beyond.
A church shaped by prayer, service, and mission.
Prayerful beginnings
CACW began not with a building campaign, but with believers gathering to seek God through Scripture and prayer.
A family across generations
As children grew and families joined, CACW developed Chinese and English ministries, Sunday School, youth ministry, and fellowship groups.
Mission beyond ourselves
From the beginning, CACW emphasized evangelism, discipleship, missions giving, and outreach through local ministries and campus Bible studies.
Our story is still being written.
The same grace that carried CACW from a small prayer meeting continues to guide us today. Whether you are exploring faith, looking for a church home, or seeking a community where your family can grow, we would love to welcome you.
